The political heart of Austria is in the building of the Austrian Parliament, an imposing building on the Ringstrasse, the wide and modern boulevard of the first district or Innere Stadt, near the Hofburg Palace.
This building was completed in 1883 and has a Greek revival style, something classic in the construction of any Modern State of the time. It is huge and has an interior lavishly decorated with chandeliers, statues and various decorative objects, but in general we are content to look at it from the outside and include in the photo the fountain in front of it: the Pallas Athena Fountain.
La Pallas Athena Fountain It is just in front of the main entrance and was built by the same architect who made the building. The work began in 1898 and ended in 1902 and quickly became one of the best Vienna tourist attractions. It is 5.5 meters tall and the sculptor was Carl Kundmann, always following Hansen's designs.
La Pallas Athena statue he holds the legislation in one of his hands and the execution of the laws in the other. In the bowl of the fountain, made of pure granite, are the two most important rivers in Austria, the Inn and the Danube, represented by the figure of a man and a woman. There are also allegorical figures that recall two other rivers of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Elbe and the Modau.
